XMAS/MMX Card
Client: Carrie Hamilton, Kismet (link)
Type: Greeting Card
Material: Strathmore Bristol Vellum
Technique: Laser cutting, Laser engraving, Laser etching
Graphic designer Carrie Hamilton approached Prototope with a clever design for a holiday card. The design uses a variety of laser techniques—laser cutting, engraving and etching—to create a two-sided card that overlays a series of cut-outs in the word "XMAS" to form part of the Roman numeral MMX for 2010 on the reverse surface. Prototope worked with Hamilton to optimize the settings and techniques used throughout the card to produce a work that is both legible, intricate and hard to forget.
