Spring Box
Client: Prototope
Type: Artwork
Material: : Acrylic, Bristol Paper, Mylar
Technique: Laser cutting, Laser engraving, Assembly
Prototope recently fabricated an elaborate prototype for a three-dimensional window display. The enclosed acrylic box is made up of several removable layers, each building up the complex design in a variety of materials.
A delicate structure composed of laser cut branches supports a multi-layered butterfly and intricate next, all composed of bristol vellum paper. Scattered throughout the scene are laser cut and engraved flowers, each hand-folded and assembled to build up their depth. A laser cut pattern of mylar flowers surrounds the layer in the foreground of the box. The outer structure of the box is made up of frosted acrylic, and each inner layer is assembled on a removable clear acrylic panel.
